For decades, I've operated a Business Directory, meeting with my clients one by one and helping them gain visibility and exposure in the public marketplace.
As the business was growing, I needed help with sales, so I engaged with quite a few people over a period of time who I thought were “good” at sales. Ultimately, I was not successful in developing a sales team.
After weighing all the options, I figured that the only way to scale the business faster was for me to be seen in the public eye, but I didn't want to be the face of my business.
I tend to be introverted and prefer not to be in the spotlight. I like the safety and comfort of my business by doing the behind-the-scenes work.
I didn’t want to be front and center. I'm a YouTube Strategist, not a "YouTuber."
Until it happened.
I fell asleep for two seconds while driving at 82 mph and experienced a brutal car accident, flipping my car over three times, with the windshield lacerating most of my forehead.
I ended upside down in the middle of the highway and received a major "degloving" of my scalp.
I almost died.

While I was recuperating from my injuries, I had time to reflect on the next steps for my business.
Before the accident, the business had been gaining momentum and I was very close to starting a great marketing campaign that I had wanted for years, which included a new venture for me ... a video podcast.
I didn't know how I was ever going to heal from this. So many questions. I seriously considered giving up and quitting.
I had my excuse.
Yet here I am. The top of my head is like a warm piece of wood. I can't feel it. I need plastic surgery for my eyes.
But you know what? I've decided to continue with the business. It's a terrifying thought, but I'm going to be in front of the camera.
I'm going to be the face of my business.
